Easter Vigil

PRAYERS OF THE FAITHFUL

Presider:

Christ our Lord
learned obedience from what he suffered,
and now made perfect, he is the source of life for all who obey him.
Let us confidently approach the throne of grace
to receive mercy
and to find grace for timely help.

R. Lord, hear our prayer.

1. For the holy Church,
that becoming lowly like Christ who became a servant,
she may learn to symphatize with the joys and pains of all people.
May she become a true channel
through which God communes with humanity
and humanity draws near to God.

Let us pray to the Lord.

R. Lord, hear our prayer.

2. For our nation,
that being tested in every way,
we may persevere in righteousness,
and learn obedience from our suffering.
May we be raised up with Christ,
who was crowned with glory and honor
because of his endurance.

Let us pray to the Lord.

R. Lord, hear our prayer.

3. For all who have received the gift of baptism,
that consecrated in Christ and becoming his brothers and sisters,
they may live in the true freedom of the sons of God.
May they always be faithful to their Christian commitment
and bring liberty to those in bondage and slavery.

Let us pray to the Lord.

R. Lord, hear our prayer.

4. For the poor and the suffering,
that they too may feel the joy of the Risen Lord,
and experience his salvation in their life.
May the compassion of Christians
help bring the healing light of the Savior
to all who live in pain and darkness.

Let us pray to the Lord.

R. Lord, hear our prayer.

5. For all of us now gathered around the table of the Lord,
that filled with grace in the joy of this night,
we may be nourished by this Easter Sacrament
to go out and proclaim the Good News of Christ’s Resurrection
and become his active and transforming presence in the world.

Let us pray to the Lord.

R. Lord, hear our prayer.

Presider:

Father of love,
you fill this night with the light of the risen Christ,
and fill our hearts with the joy of his Resurrection.

Glorify the Body of Christ present in the world
and make us, your Church,
a healing presence
that gives light and joy to all people.

through the same Christ our Lord.

R. Amen.

REGINA COELI

After the Post-Communion Prayer, the Presider addresses the assembly in these or similar words:

Saturday is the day we honor Our Lady
because on that first Saturday,
when all hope seemed to have failed,
she kept her faith in the promise of the Lord.
Blessed is she for firmly believing
that the promises spoken to her by the Lord
will be fulfilled. Alleluia!

The Presider incenses the image of Our Lady as the assembly sings the Regina Coeli or any other suitable Marian hymn:

Regina coeli, laetare! Alleluia!
Quia quem meruisti portare! Alleluia!
Resurrexit sicut dixit! Alleluia!
Ora pro nobis Deum! Alleluia!

O Queen of heaven, be joyful! Alleluia!
The Son whom you did bury in sorrow! Alleluia!
Rose in splendor as he promised! Alleluia!
Pray for your children, Mary! Alleluia!

Reyna ng Langit, magdiwang, alleluia!
Tuwa ng iyong sinapupunan, alleluia!
Ay nabuhay namang tunay, alleluia!
Kami’y ipamagitan, alleluia!
